Sredenschek: Making the grade

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Do you want to assign me a grade for this column? Go ahead...it's almost as ludicrous as grading NFL Draft picks.

I am absolutely amazed at media sites and TV networks who deem it necessary to assign grades to teams after draft picks are made. Before a player takes 1 snap, looks in 1 playbook, or takes 1 step inside a team's practice facility. Today, we find it trendy to give the teams a grade for the player they picked.

Excuse me...have you seen the player in NFL action yet? In an NFL uniform? How he fits into a system?

What may be even worse is teams deemed to be winners and losers. AFTER DAY 1!!!! I could actually assign winners and losers for a different criteria, but we digress.

If you want to grade picks, do it in 3 years. Give the players a chance to perform. Let the players play. Then it's fair to evaluate.

The NFL says the process is an inexact science. No kidding. It doesn't stop media outlets from becoming high and mighty.

There are 32 NFL teams. 32 have a personnel czar making the final decision on draft picks. If you're good to enough to grade, get 1 of those 32 jobs.

Grab your #2 pencil and start grading.
