Supreme Court turns down pregame prayer case

After a nine-year legal battle, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up an appeal by a Tampa Christian school that contended its speech rights were violated when it was prevented from offering a prayer over a stadium loudspeaker before a 2015 state championship football game.

Philadelphia police say Eric Holmes was riding his scooter to a corner store on Oct. 17, 2022, when he was attacked and robbed of his scooter and wallet. Holmes was taken to the hospital by his brother Walter, where his condition worsened due to a brain bleed and liver lacerations. He was later transferred to Temple University Hospital, where he died from his injuries, turning the case into a homicide investigation.
