Abandoned Baby Rhino Who Was So Sick He Couldn't Walk Makes a Full Recovery

(INSIDE EDITION) Rangers in Kenya feared they were too late when they found a baby rhino lying on the ground.

The two-week-old rhino was so sick that he was unable to walk - but he was alive.

His illness caused his mother to abandon him, says The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the group that rescued him. The veterinary team from the organization gave him life-saving care with a rhino milk formula. Just two hours after arriving at the sanctuary, the calf was already walking and doing better.

The little rhino is now being hand-reared by the conservancy. He gets eight feedings a day, massages from staff, and when he is strong enough he will be reintroduced into the wild.

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy tells INSIDE EDITION that the rhino hasn't been named yet and employees are taking name requests, along with donations to help pay for caring for the rhino.
