Bensalem police seize $4.5M worth of drugs, cash and horse tranquilizer

Bensalem police and federal immigration agents raided an apartment and discovered an alleged heroin trafficking operation worth millions.

"This is an obscene amount of drugs, obscene amount of packaging material," Bensalem Public Safety Director Fred Harran said.

Authorities say they also found a box filled with bottles of horse tranquilizer at apartment 1262 at The Grand at Neshaminy complex.

"If it's a chemical that can take down a horse, I don't think it's something I want to touch," Harran said.

According to Director Harran, officers needed full protective gear to gather an estimated $4.5 million in a powerful drug cocktail and $40,000.

Nancy Loftus and Toby say she never heard or seen anything unusual in her quiet community and she didn't know neighbor Hamlet Bentacourt Pimentel described by police as a local businessman here on a visa from the Dominican Republic.

He's being held on a million dollars bail along with two men also being held on ICE detainers in the U.S. illegally. Rodrigues-Santiago had previously been deported.

"He had re-entered the country illegally after being deported for previous felony convictions," Harran explained.
