Bucks County SPCA removes 35 exotic parrots from alleged unsanitary conditions

Kintnersville, Pa. (WTXF) The Bucks County SPCA says dozens of exotic birds were living in horrible conditions.

Officer Nikki Thompson led the raid Friday that seized the 35 exotic birds from a home in Kintnersville, Bucks County.

Thompson says the birds were being hoarded by a breeder who sold the chicks, most are mating pairs, some nursing eggs. According to the SPCA, all the birds allegedly were found in filth and all with health problems Thompson says it stems from severe neglect.

FOX 29 went to the home the birds were taken from and a man was there who didn't want to talk to us. Thompson says the SPCA has filed 35 charges of animal cruelty against the alleged owner of the parrots.

The 35 parrots are now being tenderly cared for by SPCA staff. The Bucks County SPCA says the birds need so much care they're in need of donations to help with it all. They're also asking for food and pet supplies and they're taking names of anyone willing to adopt the parrots down the road.
