Court documents, surveillance video reveal new details in the death of toddler

Court documents show new details pertaining to the death of a toddler in Oklahoma City.

35-year-old Bert Franklin was arrested on July 20 in Tulsa, Oklahoma following the death of 19-month-old Lincoln Von Henry Lewis, according to KOKH.

The media outlet reports that Lewis was admitted to the hospital on July 17 and then flown to Tulsa where he later died.

According to KOHK, a first degree murder arrest affidavit for Franklin shows that on July 17, Lewis was found unresponsive in a home.

The victim's mother told police that she has been dating Franklin for a year.

On July 17, she says she heard a loud noise from an upstairs room in the home. At the time, Franklin and Lewis were the only two upstairs.

Franklin told the victim's mother that the noise came from him throwing a small ball to a puppy in the home.

Later, Lewis was found unresponsive, and an autopsy shows that he suffered two severe skill fractures.

KOHK reports that police then interviewed Franklin. They stated that his stories were inconsistent.

The victim's mother told police that Franklin has threatened to kill her son's biological father, "skin him in Bricktown" and cut his penis off.

Now, according to AOL.com, new surveillance video has been released which shows the last moments of Lewis's life.

The footage shows Franklin walking down the stairs of the home of the victim's mother with Lewis in his arms, the Daily Mail reports. Lewis looked alert and was awake. The video then shows Franklin disappearing out of view into the living room.

According to the Daily Mail, it is unclear what happened next, but a detective told the court that she believes the video shows Franklin slamming the child into the ground head first.

The video then reportedly shows Franklin kicking towards something on the floor that was not visible.

When he walked back into the kitchen, in the camera's view, the child was reportedly limp in his arms.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Franklin casually grabbed a slice of pizza from a box on the side, seemingly unaffected.

KOHK reports that court records state Franklin lives in Tulsa as a practicing dentist with his wife and four children and that neither the victim's mother or his wife were aware of each other.

A GoFundMe page has been started to help with the baby's funeral expenses.
