Driver Narrowly Escapes Death When Massive Steel Beam Impales Windshield

A driver in California narrowly escaped death on Friday when a massive steel beam crashed through the front windshield of his BMW.

The San Jose driver was driving when the hunk of metal fell off the back of a truck and impaled his vehicle's window, lodging itself between the front seats.

Miraculously, the driver was able to walk away from the accident with just a scratch on his arm.

A shocking photo of the accident showing the beam stuck in the BMW was posted to Facebook by the San Jose Firefighters Local 230.

"Be careful out there on the road peoples! Driver survived with just a scratch on the arm #lucky," the post read.

Cpt. Christopher Salcido, a San Jose Fire spokesman, said the driver was somehow able to maneuver the BMW to the side of the road.

"Had the person been a little more to the right, it would have impaled him," Salcido said. "It looks like he not so much dodged a bullet, but dodged a large beam of metal."
