Driver, Passenger Flee After Car Slams into Wilmington Condo

Police in New Castle County are investigating an accident after a car crashed into a building early Christmas morning.

Officers were called to the 3200 block of Falcon Lane in Wilmington for a report of a car crashed into a building.

When officers arrived on scene, a witness reported seeing the car moving at a high rate of speed, slipping on wet pavement and slamming into the building.

Police say two men were seen getting out of the car through the front passenger door, and fleeing into a wooded area.

The car, a 2015 Nissan Altima, had Michigan registration and was owned by a rental angency.

Police are looking to speak with Patrick Sweeny, 22, whom the vehicle is registered too. He is considered a person of interest.

Officers were unable to locate him at his home.

The condo the car slammed into was deemed unsafe, but the building's structure was not compromised according to a County Inspector.

Police are asking that anyone with information contact police.
