Eagles players plan national anthem protest for Monday Night Football

(FOX NEWS)- Some members of the Philadelphia Eagles plan to demonstrate their criticisms regarding race-related issues on Monday Night Football this week, a top defensive player on the team said.

The reported decision comes following similar public displays of dissent from players like 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and soccer player Megan Rapinoe.

Safety Malcolm Jenkins told sports radio WIP that the players involved delayed their plans one week "to make sure we didn't…take away from the families that suffered from 9/11."

Jenkins said minorities have been disadvantaged since the United States' founding, adding that it "has nothing to do with this country or the flag or the anthem."
