Elderly couple forced to live in different nursing homes are finally reunited

An elderly couple forced to live apart for more than eight months in different care facilities were finally reunited on September 23, leading to joyous scenes in Surrey, Canada. In late August, Ashley Bartyik, the granddaughter of Wolfram and Anita Gottschalk, went viral when she shared an image of the couple's tearful goodbye after visiting one another.

The couple has been married for 62 years but were put into different nursing homes for nearly a year due to a backlog in the health care system, according to the family.

Bartyik's family has worked to get the couple housed in the same facility and she took to Facebook recently to share heartwarming footage from the couple's reunion after Wolfram moved into his wife Anita's facility.
