Police say a father and son were arrested Thursday, April 2, after investigators found more than 100 child sexual abuse images in their Bensalem apartment.

Police investigation leads to arrests at Salem Crossing Apartments

What we know:

Bensalem Police say they received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about someone at Salem Crossing Apartments attempting to obtain child pornography online.

Detectives say they traced the activity to an apartment occupied by Raul "Christian" Sandoval Jr., 34, and Raul Sandoval Sr., 58.

On March 12, detectives served a search warrant and seized a computer and a phone from the home.

A forensic search of Sandoval Jr.'s computer uncovered more than 100 images of girls, ages 6 to 12, nude or engaged in sexual acts with men, according to police.

Investigators say Sandoval Sr.'s phone contained images of a girl, about 10 or 11, nude and involved in sex acts with an adult male.

Police say both men were charged with Sexual Abuse of Children and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility.

Detectives say both Sandoval Sr. and Sandoval Jr. turned themselves in to police Thursday, April 2.

They were arraigned by District Justice Michael Gallagher and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility, with bail set at 10% of $2,000,000 each.

The backstory:

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted Bensalem Police to suspicious online activity at the apartment complex.

Police say the forensic examination of the seized devices provided enough evidence to obtain arrest warrants for both men.

Both men are being held in jail as the investigation continues.

What we don't know:

Police have not said if there are additional victims or if the images were shared with others.

It is also unclear how long the alleged activity had been going on.
