FBI/PPD announce $5,000 reward in attempted armed robbery case

ANDORRA (FOX 29) - The FBI announces a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of a man involved in an attempted armed credit union robbery from March 2018.

The FBI and Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man they say is a suspect in an attempted armed robbery at a credit union that took place March 2, 2018.

Officials report the suspect entered the Police & Fire Federal Credit Union branch at 8500 Henry Avenue Friday, March 2, 2018, about 5 p.m. The man demanded the tellers give him money, while pointing a gun at them.

According to investigators, the man did not receive cash, but fled the branch empty-handed. He took off on foot and officials did not see what direction he went.

The suspect is described as 6'0" with a thin build. He was wearing a black winter-type jacket with the hood over his head, a black hat, mask, gloves, blue jeans, tan boots and was carrying a brown leather bag over his shoulder. Investigators say the weapon is described as a black over silver semi-automatic handgun.

Authorities say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the man is asked to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000. The reward for information leading to this subject's capture is $5,000.
