The San Bernardino shooting on Wednesday is now being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism, FBI spokesman David Bowdich said in a press briefing in San Bernardino Friday.
The FBI also believes that the perpetrators of the attack engaged in extensive pre-planning and made attempts to destroy their digital footprint. He noted, however, that the investigation is only beginning.
Bowdich could not confirm the authenticity of a Facebook post in which the female suspect appeared to pledge her allegience to ISIS. He also would not speculate on which of the accused shooters radicalized the other.
Bowdich added that there is no known current threat to the San Bernardino community.
In addition, a national hotline has been established for any information about the attack. 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324.)
