Homes destroyed after multi-alarm fire, explosion in Wildwood Crest

A multi-alarm fire and explosion destroyed two homes on Sunday in Wildwood Crest.

Viewers sent Fox 29 video showing smoke from a large house fire that made its way to the beach.

The day's low humidity didn't make the fight an easy one for fire crews who say the fire ignited around 3:15 p.m. on the 7100 block of Park Boulevard.

Neighbor Chuck Dahmer banged on the doors at both houses before firefighters arrived. A woman was inside one of the homes.

The fire chief told FOX 29 the fire intensified after propane tanks exploded. At one point, he pulled the men out fearing either structure could collapse and, indeed, one roof did.

With the assistance of seven mutual aide companies, crews were able to bring the fire under control.

Thankfully, no one was injured. Investigators have not yet determined the fire's cause.
