Lawsuit filed against McCoy, 3 others in nightclub brawl incident

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police say the fight broke out at a Philadelphia nightclub back on February 7 th , following a disagreement over who had purchased a $350 bottle of champagne at the Recess Lounge in Old City.

The fight left off-duty Philadelphia Police officers, Darnell Jessie and Roland Butler, injured. Officer Darnell Jessie suffered broken ribs and a broken nose.

Over the summer, Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams decided against filing charged against anyone in the incident, saying he was unable to prove who started the fight. Williams also noted at the time that people have a right to defend themselves.

McCoy, 28, who now plays for the Buffalo Bills after six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, was trying to break up the fight, according to his lawyer.

The civil lawsuit has been filed by the two officers involved in the case against McCoy and three other, seeking damages. The lawsuit alleges assault, battery, and negligence.

"Our investigation has confirmed that Darnell Jessie and Roland Butler were viciously attacked and beaten by LeSean McCoy and the additional defendants. As a result of the violent assault, both men have suffered serious and permanent injuries," Fortunato N. Perri, a lawyer for the officers, said Tuesday.

McCoy was not suspended by the NFL for his alleged involvement in the brawl.
