Marine missing from New Jersey joint base found dead, search called off

A Marine missing from a New Jersey joint base has been found dead.

The Missing In America community Facebook page posted a message early Sunday morning informing the public that the search for him had been called off.

Marine Sergeant Tristan Clinger disappeared a week ago from joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.

He's from Kentucky but had been based in New Jersey for five years.

By phone, his wife told FOX 29 -- he'd been suffering from depression, and walked out of their home on the base after she reported it.

Rachel Clinger, his wife, said, "When you're in the military, like he felt that he couldn't get help because he felt that if he tried to get help, they would kick him out, and he would lose his job. And he just saw his life crumbling from that point, so he was afraid to get help."

They have three young children.

He was last seen wearing a red hat, plaid button down shirt, jeans and a backpack.
