Mother Says Pet Cat Saved Little Boys Life, After Being Hit by Stray Bullet

A cat is lucky to be alive after being shot by a stray bullet in York, Pennsylvania.

The bullet went into the home while a woman and her son were sleeping inside, and hit their family cat- Opie.

"It took me a second to realize what just happened," said homeowner Angelica Sipes. "The first thing I did was check on my son and he was sound asleep. And I saw my cat on the floor that's when I realized my cat was shot."

The bullet went into the couch and then hit Opie who was laying there.

"It came in the top of his head," said Sipes. "Out the bottom of his neck, and back into his shoulder and out his armpit rib area."

And it didn't stop there. The bullet ricocheted. You can see the bullet hole where it hit the couch that Sipes was sleeping on.

Then if flew across the room to a loveseat and lodged in a pillow, just inches from her 3-year-old son.

Sipes is convinced Opie saved her son's life by taking the bullet. And she knew she had to save his.

"When I took him there was an option to put him down," said Sipes. "Yeah, I told them I didn't, I wanted to keep him. He was my sons little hero. So I have to keep him around."
