A man was shot and killed by police in Cape May County near Route 9 and Satt Boulevard, with the New Jersey attorney general investigating the incident.
MIDDLE TWP., N.J. - Authorities are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that unfolded Friday morning in Cape May County, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.
What we know:
The reported officer-involved shooting is believed to have happened around the intersection of Route 9 and Satt Boulevard in Middle Township. SkyFOX was over the crime scene, which appeared to center around a black sedan stopped in the intersection.
At least a dozen law enforcement vehicles surrounded the intersection near Route 9 and Satt Boulevard for hours as investigators collected evidence, according to officials. The area, which includes a large shopping center, was shut down for much of the day.
The New Jersey Attorney General's Office said a thorough investigation is underway, and there is no threat to the public.

Stylist Christin Gregg, who works at Symmetry Salon nearby, described seeing police cruisers racing past their workplace around 10:30 a.m. "Very nervous because this is Cape May County…not used to…having so much going on," said Gregg.
Gregg said the scene was tense, with everything at a standstill and the intersection blocked off. "Nerve racking…very disturbing and upsetting," said Gregg.

Investigators have not shared details about the events that led up to the officer-involved shooting.
"No further details regarding the condition of those involved or the circumstances leading to the incident are available at this time," the New Jersey Attorney General's Office wrote.
