Officers try to evict squirrel from Illinois police department
MCHENRY, Ill. (FOX 13) - Officers at the McHenry, Illinois police department may have a new round of training after an incident with a squirrel New Year's Day.
The McHenry Police Department said in a Facebook post "In 2019 we're upping our training game," with video of a couple of officers trying to evict a squirrel from the police department building's entryway.
In the video, an officer inside the building tries to coax the squirrel toward an open door, with another officer standing on the outside. It wasn't clear how or when the squirrel got in.
"This video is a test of our officer's ability to handle disorderly subjects who come into the police department," the Facebook post read. "We were inspired by Rocky chasing a chicken, because 'if you can catch a chicken, you can catch greased lightning!' - right?"
However, the officers seemed to have a difficult time staying calm as the squirrel bounced around the entryway, which was mostly enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows.
At one point, an officer tries to close the door to the inside of the building, only to discover it is limited by some sort of hydraulic device. He pulls on the door to try and make it close faster as the squirrel jumps from one window to the next.
The police department's post said, "Mr. Squirrel made it out just fine and was not injured. Our officers, on the other hand, they are seeking counseling."
