Officials Investigate Arson at Wilmington Swim Club

Officials say they are searching for suspects responsible for damaging a swim club by deliberately starting fires in Wilmington, Delaware.

According to officials, the fire was reported shortly after 2:00 am on Saturday, July 4th. When firefighters arrived on the scene in the 900 block of Wilson Road, they found equipment burned inside the Shellcrest Swim Club. The fire marshal says the alleged intruders intentionally burned pool furniture around the pool deck. The damage is estimated at $8,000, according to officials.

A criminal investigation is currently being conducted. Anyone with information pertaining to this arson is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333. Investigators are also asking homeowners in the immediate area to review their surveillance footage for any suspicious activities during the early morning hours of July 4th.
