Philadelphia weather: Easter weekend forecast has rain, possible record-breaking temps

An unsettled Easter weekend will see temperatures hop into the 80s before rain on Sunday brings temperatures back down.

What we know:

Forecasters expect a warm and partly cloudy start to the Easter weekend, with temperatures on Saturday stretching into the 80s.

The 82 degree forecasted high temperature on Saturday could break a 134-year-old record of 80 degrees set back in 1892.

Spotty showers are expected on Easter morning and will become more widespread during the afternoon and early evening.

FOX 29's Sue Serio says the entire area should plan for showers between noon and 2 p.m., with periods of heavy downpours.

The rain is expected to clear offshore by 6 p.m., but a cold front will knock temperatures into the 50s and 40s through midweek.

Easter Sunday forecast

It will be a damp and dreary Easter Sunday across the Philadelphia area, with temperatures expected to peak in the 70s.

Forecasters say spotty showers will pop up in parts of the area during the morning hours before hitting a lull around 9 p.m.

A large system of rain will sweep across the area around noon, with heavy downpours expected between noon and 2 p.m.

Showers will wrap up during the late afternoon and early evening as the system of rain moves offshore.

A cold front will follow in the wake of the rain, and knock temperatures into the 50s on Monday and 40s on Tuesday.
