Police: Man sought after robbing 7-Eleven with a toy gun

Police are searching for a suspect after a 7-Eleven robbery in Northeast Philadelphia.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday morning at 6800 Bustleton Ave.

Police say a man walked into a 7-Eleven store and pointed a handgun at the store clerk. The suspect ordered the clerk to give him scratch off lottery tickets. As the clerk was getting the lottery tickets, the suspect decided that he did not want them. The clerk opened the cash register and started to give the man money. The man placed his handgun on the register and reached over the counter and took the money from the register himself.

Investigators say the man took $500 and fled the scene leaving the handgun on the register. After further investigation, the handgun was found to be a toy replica of a semi-auto handgun.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 20s, 5'10", 165 pounds, short hair, with a tear tattoo by his left eye.

This investigation is ongoing.
