Police: Newborns Found Dead Had Autopsies Performed On Them by Unknown Personnel

Philadelphia Police are investigating the discovery of two deceased newborn babies in North Philadelphia.

The bodies were discovered next to a used car lot on the 1800 block of Palethorp Street just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police responded to the scene where they met with two young witnesses, who told police they discovered the infants while walking in the area.

Medics pronounced both infants dead a short time later.

According to the medical examiner, the corpses had an autopsy performed on them by unknown medical personnel at an unknown time.

An approximate age for the victims has not yet been made available.

Meanwhile, police say they are investigating reports of unknown persons in a black pickup truck dumping trash on the street near where the newborns were located.

Investigators are hoping to comb through surveillance footage for more evidence.

The Special Victims Unit is handling the investigation at this time.
