Police: Officer shot, killed dog that charged as warrant was served in Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Police say an officer shot and killed a dog that charged at an officer serving a warrant in Northeast Philadelphia

A police spokesman says a SWAT team was at a home in the Frankford neighborhood when the pit bull charged at an officer on the first floor of the residence.

A second officer discharged his weapon three times, mortally wounding the dog. The officers were uninjured.

Police said the male the team was seeking was arrested. No information was provided about why he was being sought.
