Police officers and firefighters sub for teachers while they attend co-worker's funeral

Greenwood, Ark. (WTXF) Police officers and firefighters went above and beyond the call of duty when they served as subs for a 5th grade class while teachers attended a co-worker's funeral.

Teacher Jennifer Nelms was laid for rest to Wednesday.

According to Fox4kc, Jennifer Nelms 32, taught 5 th graders at East Hills Middle School. She died Saturday from complications associated with Lupus. FOX4kc reports that she was diagnosed with the Lupus about two years ago.

On Wednesday, people wore purple in her honor. The school's PTO served the police officers, firefighters and teachers lunch after the services.

Nelms leaves behind a husband and two sons, according to Fox4kc.
