Police searching for suspect who shot man in Overbrook

Police are investigating a shooting that left one man wounded in Overbrook.

The incident occurred on the 6700 block of Lebanon Avenue at 11:35 p.m.

According to a press release, police were on the 6700 block of Leeds Street in reference to a shooting that happened there earlier.

An officer at the scene heard a gunshot in the area and five minutes later saw a female assisting a male victim on 67 th to Leeds Street. She called out to the officers.

The victim, a 24-year-old male, had blood on his shirt and told the officers he had been shot. He was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital by police, and was treated for gunshot wounds to the right bicep and right side of his torso.

Reports say that the victim and a friend were outside on the 6700 block of Lebanon Avenue when they say a silver crossover type of vehicle driving by them.

The vehicle stopped and the driver called out a name to the victim who responded that it was not his name. The vehicle drove off.

The victim and his friend went into a home briefly and then went back outside.

Then, they saw the same silver vehicle parked on the street and the same male that had previously spoken to the victim got out of the vehicle and shot him once.

The suspect is described as an unknown black male, 5'3"- 5'5", with a dark complexion, full short beard, wearing a black skull cap, black pants, and a black hooded sweatshirt.
