Son charged in fatal stabbing of father in North Philadelphia
Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Philadelphia late Saturday night that left a 61-year-old man dead and his 28-year-old son in custody.
PHILADELPHIA - A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father, who police say was found stabbed multiple times in the neck on the front porch of a North Philadelphia home on Saturday night.
What we know:
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 600 block of West Wingohocking Street around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing on April 4.
Investigators say they found 61-year-old Kevin Jenkins lying on the front porch of the property suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was brought to Jefferson Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities later announced that the victim's son, 28-year-old Devin Jenkins, was taken into custody at the crime scene. He was treated for a minor laceration to his left index finger, and has since been charged with his father's murder.
Investigators believe the deadly stabbing followed an argument between the father and son, resulting in Devin Jenkins allegedly stabbing Kevin multiple times in the neck.
