With smoking rates steadily declining officials continue to look for ways to continue that trend. The latest proposed legislation would make Pennsylvania one of a handful of states to raise the smoking age from 18 to 21.

Philadelphia State Rep Vanessa Brown says we need to continue restricting smoking and raising the age will do that and it's not just for the 18-20 year olds that would be directly impacted.

Of course there's always the other side including the comments like these from social media, "if you can die for your country at 18 then you should have all freedoms," and "you're legally an adult at 18 why have to wait till 21 to smoke a damn cigarette."

Rep Brown counters it's not that simple.
