VIDEO: Man pushes woman off bike and into oncoming traffic

Police in London have just released shocking surveillance footage of a man attacking a female cyclist in the Whitechapel section of the city.

The incident occurred on May 1 just after 6:00 p.m., but the footage was just released Tuesday, August 25.

In the initial report, police responded to the scene after reports of a female cyclist being assaulted on Sidney Street were reported.

The video shows the woman, who is in her early 40s, turning onto Sidney Street from Whitechapel Road.

She passed a man who was about to cross the road, but according to police, politely asked him not to cross until she rode past.

Police say that the man swore at her and chased her down the street.

As she slowed while approaching an intersection, the man, believed to also be in his 40s and wearing dark clothing, came up to her again, yelled at her, and pushed her off her bike into traffic.

The woman was able to get out of the street with her bike to avoid traffic, but police say she was very upset after the assault. She did not require medical treatment.

She then downloaded footage of the incident from her helmet camera and contacted police.
