World War II Veteran Receives His High School Diploma 71 Years Later

(STORYFUL) - Abner Simon was drafted to fight in World War II in 1945, a few weeks shy of his high school graduation. When he recently returned to Orangefield High School in Texas to get a copy of his transcript, he learned that the school had listed him as a graduate, but he was never told about it.

Upon discovering this fact, the school decided to hold a ceremony for the 89-year-old and on October 7, the veteran finally got his chance to don a gown and receive his diploma.
