Weather Authority: Severe storms, soaking rain departs leading to pleasant Wednesday

Another round of severe weather impacted parts of the Delaware Valley on Tuesday, brining torrential downpours and strong wind gusts. 

Forecasters issued severe weather warnings due as a cluster of storms moved northeast through the Philadelphia area and parts of New Jersey during the afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service warned that torrential downpours would cause flooding in places near creeks, streams and ponds. 

Tuesday's round of severe weather followed and eventful Monday that featured everything from Flood Watches to Tornado Warnings in northern Pennsylvania counties. 

Strong winds toppled trees in Ridley Township, Delaware County, and at one point knocked out power to thousands for PECO and Delmarva customers. 

A much-needed stretch of sunshine is on the horizon for Wednesday through Friday, with highs reaching into the upper 80s ahead of the weekend. 

Pop-up storms will return on Saturday and Sunday with larger windows of sunshine and highs in the 80s.
