Chicago Set to Release Police Shooting Video

The city of Chicago prepared Tuesday to release a shocking video of a police-involved shooting from 2014, in which 17-year-old Laquan McDonald is seen being shot 16 times by a Chicago police officer, Jason Van Dyke.

Van Dyke was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, in what believed to be the first time in Chicago history an on-duty police officer is charged with such a crime.

A court order last week mandated the public release of the video, with a deadline given of Wednesday.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday convened meetings with local clergy, in an effort to urge calm in anticipation of the video's release.
