Driver slams into Lower Chichester homes, causing 1 to catch fire

Police in Lower Chichester are investigating a serious crash after they say a speeding car struck multiple houses and a gas main, causing one of the homes to burst into flames.

The crash occurred just after 11:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Market Street.

A neighbor's home surveillance camera shows the moment a Honda Civic left the roadway crossing through a front yard before striking multiple homes on the block.

The car eventually ended up crashing through the front of a home, causing it to catch fire.

Witnesses say the driver was thrown from the vehicle as it went airborne and he was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

A woman who was inside the home that caught fire was able to escape but was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Neighbors tell FOX 29's Steve Keely she was sleeping on the couch in the front of the home when the crash occurred and was helped out of the home.
