Man sentenced to 28 years in homeless man's death

WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) -- Prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison in the death of a homeless man whose body was found in a trailer at an abandoned New Jersey business.

The Gloucester County prosecutor's office said 25-year-old Malcom Tyson was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the death of 60-year-old Sylvester "Buttons" Combs Jr.

Authorities said Combs was homeless and was known to frequent the trailer. Tyson pleaded guilty in April, telling the court he struck the victim in the face with a cylindrical object in April 2016.

Tyson also pleaded guilty to trying to burn down the trailer before the body was discovered and to a gas station robbery. Prosecutors say he must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
