Minor leaguer Sean Murphy dies unexpectedly

Pitcher Sean Murphy passed away unexpectedly in Arizona on Monday at the age of 27, the organization announced on Twitter.

Murphy was originally from Philadelphia and spent six years in the Oakland A's farm system

"The A's are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Sean Murphy," Athletics EVP of baseball operations said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
