Mount Laurel police issue tickets for pizza to kids obeying rules

For the next two months, officers with the Mount Laurel Police Department will be issuing tickets for free slices of pizza to children who are obeying safety rules. For example, utilizing crosswalks, wearing bicycle helmets and playing in the yard and in the street.

The children can get their pizza from Crust N' Fire restaurant on Larchmont Blvd.

The 'Slices for Safety' campaign is meant to positively engage police and local children. As the weather warms, more kids are playing outside, which increases the risk of accidents.

'Slices for Safety' kicked off Friday and will run through June 5. This program can also serve as a reminder to drivers to be more aware of children playing outside and to slow down in residential areas.
