Numerous North Philadelphia protests expected to impede traffic
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A number of protests are expected to take place across the city of Philadelphia Thursday afternoon as part of a "Day of Action."
The protests will primarily focus along North Broad Street stretching from City hall to Temple University.
Around 2:00 p.m. students and activists gathered at Temple University's Bell Tower to protest the universities plan to build a stadium on campus. The group planned to march to Broad and Cecil B. Moore around 3:00 p.m.
At 4:00pm, members of Philadelphia Coalition for Racial, Economic, and Legal (REAL) Justice will host a "DAY of Rage" The location for gathering indicates Broad & Girard but there is no indication of direction or a specific location for the group.
At 5:00pm, Fight for 15 and others are planning to gather at 1401 Arch St., for a rally to support union rights and a minimum wage increase to $15 per hour.
Police expect traffic delays and blockages in the areas of the protests during the evening rush.
