Police: Several Students Poked With Needles at North Philadelphia Elementary School

Police are investigating a scary situation at a Philadelphia Elementary School.

A handful of students say they were stuck with a needle.

FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce was live at Meade Elementary School in North Philadelphia Thursday morning, where as many as five students here at Meade elementary were stuck by these needles.

Officials point out that it was multiple needles, and they are not sure how many were inside the school.

Police are also concerned that the incident happened between 8:30 a.m. and 11:15a.m. Tuesday morning, however officers weren't notified until almost 5:00 p.m.

It's unclear why it took the school more than five hours to notify the Philadelphia Police Department because investigators say that the needles used were turned in to a lunchtime aide and subsequently handed over to school police.

One of the victims, a little girl, told police that she was poked in the back with one of the needles.

She ended up going to the hospital but didn't have any visible marks on her.

Police are continuing their investigation.
