School crossing guard facing assault, weapons charges

A Pennsville woman is under arrest after a man complained she sprayed him in the face with mace, early Wednesday morning.

Pennsville police say it happened at about 7:45am on Route 49/First Street.

They found the victim had been walking when a vehicle pulled up next to him and the woman inside asked him his name, then sprayed him in the face and got away.

Despite his condition, he was able to provide a license plate number.

That helped them find Amy L. Stanley, 35, and arrest her while she was on her crossing guard post at about 8am.

She's charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Stanley was processed and released pending a court date.

She was also suspended without pay from her job, pending termination.

Stanley did call FOX 29 News and alleged the man she maced is a "known heroin dealer" who came up to her car and reached into the window.
