Woman claims rare, deadly snake on loose in Georgia

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA (FOX 5 WAGA)- Georgia Department of Natural Resource officials are on the lookout for one of the world's deadliest snakes.

A Milledgeville woman said she saw a Gaboon Viper on Harrisburg Road about two weeks ago. Lora Brown snapped a picture and DNR officials said they can't prove or disprove the claim.

The Gaboon Viper, native to South Africa, is not known to exist in the wild in Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took a look at Brown's picture and said they have no reason to believe the picture is not real.

If you come across the snake DNR officials said to call 911 immediately.
