A woman is dead and a 4-year-old girl is in extremely critical condition after a fire tore through a home on the 2600 block of Mildred Street in South Philadelphia. Officials say firefighters arrived around 5 a.m. and found heavy fire coming from the first floor before rescuing multiple people from the home. Officials say two other people were rescued from the first floor and crews brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Investigators say there were no smoke detectors in the home, and the cause of the fire remains unclear.
