Weather Authority: Morning snow clears leaving clouds, near-freezing temperatures

Most of the region woke up to a blanket of fresh snow Thursday morning. Philadelphia and northern counties received a coating, while areas south of the city saw upwards of 3 inches.

Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools delayed 2-hours Thursday

Archdiocese of Philadelphia elementary schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, while high schools will be on a two-hour delay plan for virtual delivery of instruction due to the impending snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at 7 p.m. for Philadelphia and parts of Delaware and Chester counties. The advisory stretches into New Jersey to cover central and southern counties. All of Delaware is also included in the advisory.?

The first round of snow will move in Wednesday night and lasting overnight making for a slow morning commute.

Powerful quake strikes New Zealand, prompting tsunami warnings

The U.S. Geological Agency said the magnitude 7.7 quake was centered at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles) southeast of the Loyalty Islands. The shaking was not expected to cause significant damage or fatalities on land.

Weather Authority: Tuesday night cold and dry, next snow chance Wednesday night

FOX 29’s Kathy Orr says arctic air currently invading the Northern Plains will head this way. The polar air will be the trend over the next 10 days, sending temperatures well below normal after Valentine’s Day.
