Burglary suspect accused of stealing badge, body armor vest from West Chester police car

Dass, a Brookhaven resident, was charged with five counts of burglary and other offenses in a "string of burglaries throughout West Chester." 

A Pennsylvania man is facing charges for multiple burglaries, including one where he allegedly broke into a police patrol car and stole a badge and body armor vest.

Lawrence Dass, 27, is accused of a spate of burglaries in West Chester last August after investigators used video surveillance, finger print and DNA samples. 

He is being at a Chester County prison on $50k bond.

What we know:

Dass, a Brookhaven resident, was charged with five counts of burglary and other offenses in a "string of burglaries throughout West Chester." 

It's alleged that Dass was also responsible for breaking into a West Chester police patrol car and stealing a badge and body armor vest. 

The West Chester Police Department worked with agencies in neighboring townships and counties to develop Dass as a suspect.

Authorities are continuing to investigate whether Dass is responsible for other reported burglaries in the West Chester area. 

"Burglars destroy our sense of security in our homes," Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said. "Thanks to a combination of good police work and an ability to leverage technology during the investigation, West Chester is a safer place."

What's next:

Dass is currently being held on $50K bond at a Chester County prison. He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
