Serial burglar sought after pretending to deliver package at Wilmington home: police

A recent crime spree saw a string of homes in New Castle County burglarized by one suspect, who police are trying to identify.

Last month, several burglaries were reported at homes along Faulk Road, Fairfax Boulevard, Darley Road and nearby areas.

Police say the suspect targets empty homes, checking the front door before entering through an open door or window in the back of the house.

However, he has "forcibly" broken into some homes, according to authorities.

During one burglary, surveillance footage captured the suspect pretending to deliver a package after noticing a security camera.

He can be seen scanning a package with his phone before fleeing.

New Castle County Police believe the man is the same individual caught on a family’s backyard camera back on November 27th, around 8:00 p.m. on South Avon Drive.

Police say he stole a shovel from the shed and attempted to get into the home but was unsuccessful, and fled after noticing the cameras.

Neighbor, Marilyn McBride, says her daughter was contacted by the homeowner.

"She went up with her truck, lit the lights, and didn’t see anybody," she says. "Next thing we know, he’s all the way up some place else, traveling all around. I’m not scared, I guess if he was right there I’d be scared, but I just pray that nobody gets hurt."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
